Origin:
Can Fontanals Estate. Organic viticulture, unique plot “La Ticota”, planted in 1940 and cultivated for decades by our an-cestors. This has allowed us to acquire great knowledge about this plot.
The old vineyards present a natural balance that, although it translates into lower yields, offers exceptional potential for grape production. These grapes have a higher concentration of flavors and a more authentic expression of the terroir, resulting in a superior quality wine. The soil is of medium type, with good water retention capacity and slightly clayey limestone.
Harvest:
The agricultural year began with little rainfall, reminiscent of previous vintages. However, from January onwards the situation changed — it rained continuously, in small amounts but over many days. It turned out to be the wettest spring since 1969.This led to the appearance of mildew outbreaks that were very difficult to control. We could say that 2018 was one of the most challenging years from an agricultural standpoint — a year that demanded great effort and dedication in the vineyard to achieve a good harvest.A mild spring and a hot summer brought about a significant advance in the start of the harvest, which, thanks to the generous rainfall of the season, was both abundant and of high quality.
