Origin:
La Fassina. Unique to Caves Avinyó, set on the border of Avinyonet del Penedès, enjoying fertile soils, deep and well-drained, with a silty clay loam texture, and thanks to the privileged location it benefits from a higher rainfall regime than our other vineyards. The plot is settled in a low-lying area, protected from the easterly Levant winds, making it the perfect location to grow the Pinot Noir from which we make our Blanc de Noirs cava.
Harvest:
A harvest defined by exceptionally low rainfall, with only 197 mm compared to a historical average of over 500 mm, generating severe water stress from the beginning of the vegetative cycle. In the field, the year was characterized by minimal intervention and excellent plant health, with no appearance of diseases, although the vines had to endure extreme heat and a prolonged lack of water that affected their development. The harvest began early to prevent further stress on the plants and progressed quickly, completing in an unusually short period. Despite the water limitations, the grapes reached a remarkable level of quality, although yields were very low. Overall, the vintage can be considered of excellent quality but marked by clearly insufficient production and profoundly influenced by extreme weather conditions.
